Her Majesty The Queen has become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, seventy years of service, having acceded to the throne on 6th February 1952 when Her Majesty was 25 years old.

We are well into the extended bank holiday and communities across the country are decorated with red white and blue to celebrate our Queen and the service she has given to the Country.

HM Lord Lieutenant said “

This will be a weekend to bring people together, to spend time and reconnect with our neighbours as well as celebrate Her Majesty and her wonderful contribution to our country for 70 years.

“I am proud to represent Her Majesty in Devon which is a County in which she has shown a continuing interest over the years and when I have met her. She has been a constant in my life and has set an incredible example of service to her people throughout her reign which the Platinum Jubilee gives us an opportunity to celebrate. I love the way that she can combine the formality of her position with the twinkle of her personality”

HM Lord-Lieutenant and many of the Deputy Lieutenants have been asked to represent the Queen across the County over the weekend, lighting beacons, attending parades and festivals and speaking about the importance of the Jubilee.

We will bring you photos of events across the county when we can. If you would like to send in a photograph of your celebration we would love to see them.
