On Friday 14th August, the Lord Lieutenant of Devon presented Naturalmat with their King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. They also previously won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development in 2020.
Today, the company handcrafts a range of natural and organic mattresses, beds, bedding and nursery products from its Devon workshops, supplying customers across the UK and internationally. Naturalmat uses natural fibres including certified organic wool, cotton, coir and natural latex, and has become renowned for combining luxury craftsmanship with environmental responsibility.
They are the first and only bed company in the UK to offer a Refurbish, Recycle, or Donate service, and have recycled over 2,000 mattresses and 400 beds to date. They also use tailor-made reusable bags to deliver the vast majority of their beds and mattresses, saving over 6,000kg of single-use packaging.
The King’s Award for Enterprise is the highest official UK business honour. They are given to companies that show great success in areas of:
