On Thursday 24th July, His Majesty’s Deputy Lieutenant, Mark Dowie CBE DL (former CEO of the RNLI), joined the Devon Young Fishers for their graduation day, as two of their Young Fishing groups completed their 6 week introduction to fishing courses.

 

 

Each of the Young Fishers received their Certificate of Achievement from HM Deputy Lieutenant next to the crew, and also showed off their catch of the day.

 

 

Mark Dowie CBE DL was Chief Executive of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) from 2019 to 2024. He initially joined the RNLI in as a volunteer at Salcombe Lifeboat Station, giving him first-hand experience of leading and volunteering within the organisation. He is also a former Royal Navy Supply Officer, serving between 1982 and 1990.
