On Saturday 11th May, the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Devon, The Rt. Hon. The Countess of Arran CVO MBE, visited Providence Chapel in Throwleigh, Devon. The Chapel held an Open Day in celebration of winning two National Church Awards in 2023. The Countess of Arran visited Providence Chapel during one her last outings as the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Devon.

The Vice Lord Lieutenant was welcomed on arrival by Mrs Margaret Allin, Providence Chapel’s Senior Steward, and the Revd Chris Jackson, Superintendent Minister for the West Devon Methodist Circuit. Among other guests present were Cllr Lynn Daniel, Mayor of West Devon, and two Trustees of the Devon Historic Churches Trust, Mrs Lee Ann Martin and the Rt Revd Nick McKinnel.

 

During the afternoon, the Dartmoor photographer Chris Chapman gave the Vice Lord Lieutenant a tour of the Chapel’s exhibition of his Dartmoor Photographs which portray the lives of Dartmoor farmers and local families over the past 50 years.
