On the 19th October, the Royal Marines welcomed Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant, Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Deputy-Lieutenants, High Sheriff of Devon, Chairman of Devon County Council and award recipients to the Commando Training Centre in Lympstone for the Investiture on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen.. Following a difficult delay due to COVID, the ceremony was warmly welcomed.

The Royal Marines hosted us with efficiency and respect, making the event unique and special for those receiving medals, as well as for the commissioning of the new Deputy-Lieutenants. The Citations which were read for each recipient, were outstanding and there was a huge sense of pride for all those receiving their honours.

The Lord-Lieutenant awarded an MBE and BEMs to individuals with achievements across the entirety of Devon, including contribution to sports, the voluntary sector, scouts and guides, and public health awareness.

Following the ceremony, which was attended by friends and family,  recipients enjoyed a well-deserved cream tea with fellow community champions and the Royal Marines, who deserve particular thanks for their help in organising and executing the Investiture.

Congratulations to all.
