It is with very great sadness that we have heard of the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

It was in Devon as a young naval officer, training at Britannia Royal Naval College, that Prince Philip met and later married Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Not surprisingly therefore the County has been important to them both throughout their lives and they have visited us here many times.

We give thanks for a wonderful life. May he rest in peace.

Message from HM Lord-Lieutenant of Devon, David Fursdon

by | April 1st, 2020

All of us in the Devon Lieutenancy understand the uncertainty being faced by so many people in Devon at this difficult time. We understand too that difficult decisions need to be taken and that families will be facing strains that are quite unprecedented in recent history. We hope that you will follow the expert medical and health advice being given for the benefit particularly of the vulnerable in our society.
In due course, as matters stabilise, there will be an opportunity to thank those who are working in the front line providing so many services to us all. Please note who they are now so that we can celebrate with them when normality returns.
In the meantime the programme of Royal visits to the County is likely to be severely curtailed as will be our attendance at events virtually all of which be cancelled in any event particularly in the short term. We will however be working behind the scenes as Her Majesty would expect us to do.
Please contact the office if we can be of help

David Fursdon
H.M.Lord-Lieutenant of Devon
