It is with very great sadness that we have heard of the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

It was in Devon as a young naval officer, training at Britannia Royal Naval College, that Prince Philip met and later married Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Not surprisingly therefore the County has been important to them both throughout their lives and they have visited us here many times.

We give thanks for a wonderful life. May he rest in peace.

Visit to HighGround, Bicton College

by | October 15th, 2019

HM Lord-Lieutenant, David Fursdon and Rosalie visited HighGround a charity working with Bicton College to deliver a course for ex military people to have an insight into Land based employment.

The land-based sector is ideally suited to motivated, organised, responsible individuals who enjoy variety and challenges in all weathers. On the rural week course at Bicton College the participants get to hear about all aspects of Land based employment as well as having a go and talking to people in the industry.

HighGround is leading the way as a link between ex military people who have skills and experience which map so perfectly into the land-based sector, and employers who recognise this (and some who haven’t quite got there yet..!) who have work experience and employment opportunities on farms, estates, rivers, vineyards, forest schools, smallholdings and more.
