It is with very great sadness that we have heard of the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

It was in Devon as a young naval officer, training at Britannia Royal Naval College, that Prince Philip met and later married Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Not surprisingly therefore the County has been important to them both throughout their lives and they have visited us here many times.

We give thanks for a wonderful life. May he rest in peace.

The afternoon celebrations will be opened by a children’s marching band. There will be lots of family friendly fun including face painting, traditional races such as egg n spoon and sack race, tug of war, bouncy castle, sumo suits, jujitsu and gymnastic displays, food stalls, raffles, tombola, craft stalls and music. The afternoon activities will end with a Children’s Bring and Share Buffet. Please call Amanda Robinson on 01271 373480 for food list. Children in attendance will receive a Jubilee memento gift (subject to availability).

There will be optional Kings and Queens fancy dress and also a Bring Your Handmade Crown Competition.

The evening’s entertainments will start at 7pm with a disco and adult races, followed by an outdoor concert from the terrace of the Chichester Arms from brilliant function band Up4Grabs www.u4g.co.uk
