It is with very great sadness that we have heard of the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

It was in Devon as a young naval officer, training at Britannia Royal Naval College, that Prince Philip met and later married Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Not surprisingly therefore the County has been important to them both throughout their lives and they have visited us here many times.

We give thanks for a wonderful life. May he rest in peace.

Saturday 2 June

Family party in The Square.2pm – 6pm.

8pm onwards – Party in The Square with live music and hog roast.


Sunday 3 June

1pm – Big Lunch in the Village Hall followed by outdoor Service of Thanksgiving for HM reign, in the playing field at 2.30pm.


Monday 4 June

2pm – 20/20 Cricket Match. Village v Shebbear College at Shebbear College.  Refreshments at the College by the Women’s Institute.

8pm to 2am – Jubilee Disco in the Village Hall.

10 pm approx – Jubilee Beacon lighting at Berry Barns.


Tuesday 5 June

Jubilee Lunch and Quiz for all ages at The Devilstone Inn.


All weekend

Free Art and Photography Exhibition between10am and 4pm in The Church Room. Shebbear.

Jubilee street party and Kings and Queens dress competition for Children.  An evening BBQ and entertainment in The Square.
